Rather expected game when 3rd ranked ColombianCaimanes (0-6) were smashed by top-ranked Mexican Astros (6-0) in Guadalajara 140-69 on Thursday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Caimanes ' 30. Astros forced 21 Caimanes turnovers and outrebounded them 50-21 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 48 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Caimanes ' players. The winners were led by American guard Daishon Smith (185-1995, college: ULM) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists and the other American import point guard Trey Burke (183-1992, college: Michigan) supported him with 31 points and 6 assists. Five Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 20 points and 4 assists by Argentinian guard Alejo Britos (187-1994) did not help to save the game for Caimanes . Forward Yildon Mendoza (206-1996, college: Angelo St.) added 10 points for the guests. Astros have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record, which they share with Nacional. Loser Caimanes still closes the standings with six games lost.
